When we think of military history we often immediately think of the big wars. World War II and the Civil War are good examples of wars with countless movies, books and a popular place in our culture. This app pays some respect to these wars but our main focus here is showing military operations throughout the span of the U.S. history. We watch the media and see actions in Nicaragua in the 1980s without appreciating that we have had forces deploy to Nicaragua 11 times previously (first in 1853) to protect U.S. interests there.
In this app we present a timeline of military operations roughly divided into sections by the major wars. We also offer articles and essays on many of the lesser known military actions such as the American Expedition to Egypt in 1882.
